Remote Sensing

Remote Sensing is generally meant to be ocean data collected by sensors on satellites or aircraft. The term implies that the sensor is placed at some considerable distance from the sensed target, in contrast to close-in measurements made by “in situ" sensing. Commonly measured parameters are ocean color, sea surface temperature, and sea surface altitude.
