Towed Vehicles

Many types of underwater towed vehicles have been developed for oceanographic real-time surveys. They offer the capability of moving in wide area with stable attitude at speeds much faster then ROVs and AUVs. Towed vehicles are used for such tasks as monitoring of oceanographic environment, seabed survey and inspection of pipeline on seabed. Some types are steerable and others can be winched in and out.
