Camera Control Units:
Most of DeepSeas cameras have wide angle lenses, which allow the videographer to get closer to his subject and enables the camera to look thru less water. Another affect of wide angle lenses is that they create great depth of field. For this reason DeepSea offers many fixed focus cameras thereby eliminating the need for motorized focus mechanisms, which in turn require more complicated controllers and bigger multi-conductor cables. The net result is smaller, more robust, less expensive cameras. In general, monochrome cameras have better contrast, can operate in lower light and cost less then color cameras. Nevertheless there are many times when color is preferred. Most of DeepSeas color cameras have to option for Y/C output. Also, known as S-VHS, Y/C output produces a cleaner, higher resolution picture by transmitting the chromiance and luminensce video components separately. To take advantage of this capability, a cable containing two coax conductors is necessary as is more expensive Y/C monitors and VCR decks. |
